My work involves working with stone, mainly using dry stone walling techniques. Occasionally timber makes an appearance in the production of seats, shelters, shapes and walls. I enjoy working both indoor and outdoor and feel the materials I use are adaptable to both situations. |

I am a chainsaw carver, a bone carver and a sculptor. I was introduced to carving on my travels in New Zealand . According to the Maori people, carvings of traditional design have distinctive spiritual meaning and mana (power.) I try to honour this concept by taking great pride in my workmanship. |

The work I do has a strong contemporary feel, but is influenced by the values and of the early 1900's Arts and Crafts Movement. Following in this tradition of honest design, particular attention is given to construction detail to ensure pieces will last and age gracefully. I work mainly with sustainably grown European and North American hardwoods. |

We own and manage a small timber woodland to the north of Sheffield. Although planted for timber the wood is rich in wildlife and is primarily managed for biodiversity. We have opted for small scale removal of trees, which allows continuous cover and mill the timber ourselves to supply any size of Oak, Beech, Ash, Birch, Sycamore & Larch. This supplied green but there is access to a kiln. |
